Here’s A Thought: From Pins to Purchases

Ready to start using Pinterest to turn pins into sales? Here are a few ideas to help:

1. Put a Pinterest button on your website with a link to your Pinterest account.
2. Pick your Pinterest friends who make sense to increase your traffic and are a natural fit for your product or service. Follow those who follow you. And spend the time to build those relationships with well know, quality Pinners.
3. Be creative when creating your boards. Don’t overload one board with all your images. Come up with clever titles for boards to separate images and information in ways that make sense and are unique. Keep your boards organized and contribute regularly!
4. Put an effort into what you pin. Try to pick only the best images and content. If you are contributing your own images of your products, hire a professional photographer. It’s worth it to have a “share-worthy” image.
5. Be a generous Pinterest citizen. Don’t only pay attention to your own boards, but spend some time sharing, following and commenting on others work. No one likes a pinner who is just pushing out their own products.
6. Check your links often and make sure they are working to their intended destination. It is frustrating for others if we can’t link directly to the source of your pin.
7. Mention your Pinterest account on other social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook. You don’t need to blast this information daily, but once in awhile share a particularly good pin you have posted with a link back to your board.
8. Make sure Pinterest is a good match with your services. If you are an accountant, for example, your time may be better served building relationships on LinkedIn, for example, than Pinterest. Pinterest, however, is a great site for food, entertaining, crafts, kids, home décor, fashion, design and some other similar areas. Just investigate first to be sure there is an audience for your business.
9. The temptation is to only promote and pin your products you sell or services you offer. Try to think outside of your own box and find interesting tips or other complimentary products or services as well. Become a resource to your followers and show your always thinking of new ideas in your area of expertise.
10. Be innovative in how you use Pinterest. We have already seen several interesting and clever ways companies are using Pinterest – such as “Pin It To Win It” campaigns where a company has asked pinners to create a board based around a theme or product and voted on the best board to win a prize. This is a relatively new entree into the social media field – but one that has many possibilities if you put a little imagination into it. Share your Pinterest link below so we may follow you and Happy Pinning!
