Noted :: Fancy Food Show 2013

Yesterday, I spent the day at the opening of the Fancy Food Show in New York City. For those of you who are dieting, avoid attending this event at all costs. For everyone else, I can think of much worse ways to spend a Sunday.

Let’s just say I ate my way through this show for seven hours. Booth upon booth, row upon row, floor upon floor of food – from olives to ice-cream, there is no food product unrepresented here. The sounds, sights, smells and oh my, the tastes!

The image of the big guy above is the coveted “SOFI Award” for the best of the best food products at the show. Everyone wants to get their hands on one of these guys. He’s basically the equivalent of an Oscar in the world of food products. And were I a judge, I’d have a very difficult task before me. Not only choosing the winners, but more so losing the weight following the judging process.

First stop was to head right to the Unaprol-Bellucci Olive Oil booth – one of Elements clients for whom we designed not only the booth, but much of the print collateral. Here is an image of our group (I’m on the far left, clients to the right). Bellucci is new on the market and by far the most delicious, freshest, pure olive oil there is. Trust me on this. Yesterday, from Peru back to Italy, I tried them all. Bellucci’s is the best.

Next stop was to visit our TEA•RRIFIC! ICE CREAM client, Mario. His tea-infused ice-cream is something so unique and refreshing you really need to taste it to believe. I am not a tea drinker – or even a coffee drinker for that matter. So, when he first came through our studio doors with his tea-infused ice cream concept, I was not initially sold. Now, I can’t keep it in stock at my house. They were already surrounded at their booth when the show opened. Go TEA•RRIFIC!

Being a designer, I was obviously interested in cool booth design. I was walking the show with my friend, Sharon, who owns a trade show booth company that I frequently partner with on client booth needs. We had fun, well, eating, but also discussing booths. I also enjoy looking at the package designs and print collateral, too, naturally.

From the funny …

… to the elegant …

… and the clever …

… and the way cool …

Yes, lot’s to see, learn and eat at the Fancy Food Show! I better start dieting now in preparation for next year’s show …
