Our Talented Friends :: How To Shoot A Burger

Today, we are lucky to have the very talented, and very funny, Paul Johnson to guest blog for us! Paul is an expert photographing food – as you can see. It’s not easy to make a burger look this good!

How to build a big burger….  A Really BIG BURGER:

I thought I would share a recent job I did for Jake’s Wayback Burger.  If you haven’t experienced Jake’s, they are a rapidly growing burger franchise with 60 restaurants mostly on the east coast.  Some of the best burgers you will ever have… great onion rings and shakes for that matter.

Ok, the first thing you need to build a HUGE burger is a great food stylist: Leslie Gavin!

Then, you start with the bottom bun and a tasty, hand-formed burger patty

Then, a piece of cheese and another patty ….

Then, another ….

And, another ….

And, so on ….

Then, it’s time to melt the cheese ….

And garnish with a little lettuce ….

And a bun – and shoot it quickly before it tops it over!

It stood just long enough to photograph, we got the shot, sat down to lunch and then watched it slowly lean, lean a little more and finally fall over ….
