Officially, December 21st marks the first day of winter. But I’ve always felt December 1st – when the holiday decoration go up and our little studio starts listening to holiday music – is when the winter really begins for us in New England. Going by my own internal clock, I felt it was time now to update my Fall 2013 bucket list and start thinking about making a list for Winter.
First, let’s see how I did this fall ….
1. bake a pie. check!
2. DISNEY. big, huge check!
3. Run through the woods. {check! I ran through the beautiful fall foliage. I only wish I brought my camera!}
4. long fall family bike ride.
5. tick-or-treating. check! {at disney – along with a parade, fireworks, and rides until midnight. best. halloween. ever!}
6. pumpkin carving. check! {my son named him ‘sir lawerence’}
7. jack-o-lantern spectacular. check, sort of? {we didn’t get to the jack-o-lantern spectacular this fall, but addie and I did go on a haunted hike with her daisy troop that was spooky and exciting, so I’m checking this one off the list!}
8. day trip to newport
9. homemade applesauce. check! {and in the crock pot, too!}
10. caramel apples. check!
11. plant daffodil bulbs. check! {i can’t wait to see them sprout up outside our studio’s front door in the spring!}
12. design a camp patch. check! {and it will be added to the Goods Shoppe very soon…}
13. leaf art with kids. Check! {they were a huge hit at the Thanksgiving table.}
14. try fall brew.
15. watch a football game. check! {go Patriots!}
16. fall walk alone to sketch.
17. geocaching. {almost checked. This weekend, addie and I are going letterboxing with her daisy troop. I’m more excited than she is I think!}
18. homemade soup. check! {a new recipe I tried in the crock pot on a cold, rainy, windy night was just the thing.}
19. host thanksgiving. check! {I co-hosted with my mom-in-law this year. }
20. plan holiday card. check! {lo res proof below by the talented anna sawin and the cards are being printed now – should be here any minute!}
21. harvest fair.
22. corn maze. check!
